Stallions ready for back to back games this weekend

by David Lang

The Essa Stallions are preparing for two games this weekend, which starts a back to back tonight as "The Herd" travel some 400 series highways southeast, to take on the Wexford Raiders tonight at the Scarborough Gardens.

"This is the stretch run. It starts tonight. We need to be better. Hit our stride heading into playoffs, and tonight is where it all begins" said Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier. "We have been a shell of ourselves for the last 10-15 games. We have not played to our potential which is a good thing and a bad thing I guess. We're 2nd place, having not reached what I feel is our capable abilities. We have room to grow, keep getting better, and improve upon our results so far this season" Cloutier added.

We hope the Stallions come ready to play tonight, and don't look ahead to there upcoming schedule. The Stallions will play the league leading Markdale Hawks tomorrow night, which will be starting one of three meetings over the next five games. With the top two teams going head to head over the next couple of weeks, this mini series could help determine top seed in the CPJHL, and earn home ice advantage throughout the Presidents Cup Playoffs.

"In sports, I would say tonight could be seen as a trap game. Wexford may be down in the standings, but they have added some talent, and shouldn't be taken lightly. We need the boys to be focused on the task at hand; minute by minute, shift by shift. Hopefully we get two points tonight, and then turn our attention to Markdale for tomorrow" said GM David Lang.

Currently, Essa sits 3 points behind Markdale, with a game in hand. Wexford currently sits in 7th place, one point ahead of Smith Falls, and 2 points back of the Seaforth Generals.

Newly signed Liam Coleman will make his season debut with the club tonight, and newly added goaltender Kyle Fritz will get the start tonight in Wexford.

Let's Go Stallions!!!
