Stallions Sign Goaltender Kyle Fritz

by David Lang

The Essa Stallions are proud to announce the signing of 20 year old goaltender Kyle Fritz!

Fritz, a native of St Laurent, QC will join The Herd for the stretch run, starting this weekend, as the Stallions host Fritz's former team, The Smith Falls Settlers.

The injury to goaltender Matthew Server last Saturday night created a need for an experienced goaltender to come in and push starter Ethan James, and Fritz is that guy. Last season, Fritz posted 32-3 record, 1.79 GAA and a .920 Save % with the Eastern Conference Champions Smith Falls Settlers.

"No one likes to lose a job to an injury, or see someone go down to an injury with such a senseless play. Unfortunately we lost Server last week for a considerable amount of time. Ethan is a capable goaltender, and lead us to the championship last season. However, we don't feel like hanging that work load strictly on Ethan. Still a long way to go in the season before playoffs and we need a dependable 2nd guy now that we have lost Serves. Fritzy is that guy" said GM & Assistant Coach David Lang.

"It sucks losing Server. He was having a good season. But Fritzy will step in here and be depended upon. He will get some games to take the workload off of Ethan. We have some young goaltenders in the system that are going to be good down the road. Just not ready for day-in day-out starts. They will push each-other, and that's what they love. Competition. We're looking forward to having him" said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Ops Sylvain Cloutier.

The Herd take on Smith Falls this Saturday at "The Barn" in Angus where James will get the start. Depending on week of practice, it is likely to see Fritz get the start in the teams next away game next Friday night as they hit the road to take on the Wexford Raiders.

Welcome to The Herd Fritzy!!!!!!!!!!
